New Ministry Truths

Ok, so when we started worship at Connection Church in January, our plan was to wait until the fall to start our student ministry.  We call our student ministry Nexus because Nexus means “a point of connection” and “at the center of something.”  Our goal is that this ministry will allow teenagers to connect with and experience Christ in such a way that He becomes the center of their lives.

Part of the reason in delaying the start of Nexus was to make sure we did it right.  We didn’t want to take on too much at the beginning of the church and not a ministry well, thus dooming it.  Another reason was because I was waiting for God to reveal the right person to lead this ministry.  One of the great people I have met in starting the church is Andrew Von Essen.  He is a great guy with a passion for Jesus.  When I found out that he had a passion to work with youth, God was like BAM, and off Andrew and I went to plan and prepare.

We are really pumped about beginning this student ministry.  Our first event will be a trip to a Gwinnett Braves game in June.  We hope to do a service project in July and then another outing in August before beginning Sunday night worship and teaching.  Check out our page here, and if you are on Facebook, join our group (Nexus Student Ministry).  If nothing else, pray for this new ministry as we seek to have an impact on the teenagers of Suwanee!

Long Absence Truths

Ok, so I haven’t blogged in awhile.  I guess it is because I have been struggling a little on the direction of the blog.  When I started back in 2007, this blog was intended to be a place where I could put little observations on things I see as truth that happen to me in everyday life.  That is why it is called “Relative Truths” and why I title each blog as “something truths.”  Well, after a discussion with a friend about two months ago, I started to feel like I was being redundant or like I was trying to be overly profound.  I needed to step away and evaluate because the main reason I wanted to do this blog was to help people know me a little better and a way to communicate what is going on in my life and the life of the church I serve.

So, I have been gone from the blogging world, and I must admit, I really missed it.  I don’t know how many people will read this because I am sure my faithful readers have given up on me.  However, if you still read, know that I am excited to be back and I hope you are too!
