Unexpected Joy Truths

Ok, so I haven’t posted this week.  My bad.  I would like to say I have had a busy week, and that is my excuse, but really, who doesn’t have a busy week?  Anyway, I have been trying to juggle some personal stuff, keeping up with work at the church, and trying to take care of some details for the new church.  I had two experiences today that reminded me of the joy that can come out of situations in which we don’t always expect to find joy.

We had accountability this morning.  It is the first Wednesday of the month, so we played basketball.  Well sort of.  We only had three guys to play this week, so we played 21.  I hate 21.  I have never had a one-on-one game (actually, I don’t know if I have ever had any game…).  However, I had fun.  I love my group and it is worth getting beat down in 21 to hang out with them.  I really appreciate those guys and how they support me.  The truth is, sometimes you have to do something not so much fun to enjoy something worth it.

I needed to take a DVD to Simpsonwood today.  So, since I had to go over there, Andrew, Allen, and I went to Dreamland.  Man I love those ribs.  At first I was irritated about driving over there.  I mean, that is like 80 minutes out of my day.  However, I got Dreamland.  So, something that looked like it would just be an irritating situation turned out to be awesome and well worth it.  See, sometimes we find joy when we least expect it.

I guess that is enough.  Have you found unexpected joy lately?
