Update and Praise Truths
Ok, so since we made the announcement about the new church Sunday, I have had a lot of questions. Since we don’t have a website for the new church up yet (hopefully sometime soon), I will use this blog to give periodic updates on things. First of all, as I mentioned in the post about the announcement, it is a brand new church. That means there is nothing. Nada. Zilch. We will be starting from scratch. Right now I am pretty certain Rebekah is committed to coming, so that’s a start. Also, this isn’t like the start for The Way. While I know that FUMC is sending me with it’s blessing, this isn’t another birth. However, I do covet all your prayers and support in this new start. I really have loved being in ministry with this church and serving the great people here.
The church will be in Suwanee, but I am not sure where yet. On those lines, I have a specific prayer request. There is a new school opening in the Suwanee area this fall. I am trying to get my name on that list. I have been calling some folks, and making some progress, but please pray that God allows us to have a partnership with this school. I don’t just want a place to worship; I want a place to partner with. I want to help serve the students, staff, and parents of that school as much as I want to worship in the building. So please, pray for that to happen, if it is God’s will.
Last update: name. As I mentioned Sunday, the name is going to be Connection Church (unless God leads me to something different). I have had a vision of that name for almost 2 years and it fits with the vision of the church to connect people to God, connect people to each other, and to connect the church to the community. What do you think?
Anyway, I have a praise to share with you all. If you read yesterday’s blog, you heard the amazing praise about Erin Blonshine. I still thank God for that great news. I had another praise yesterday. I have a guy who I want to lead worship for me (he knows who he is) and I feel pretty good that I have a preacher lined up (that would be me). However, I need someone that can help with other stuff like mailings, publications, helping me figure out financial stuff, etc. I have been a little stressed out about that. Well, I have been praying that God would provide, and yesterday a very amazing woman came to my office to volunteer her time to help me with those tasks. After she left, I almost lost it. Seriously, I wanted to cry in my office. Not only is God in the middle of this, but He is already taking care of my needs. He sent me a great person to work with and I am so excited about her involvement.
The truth in all of this is that God is great. God has something awesome in store for everyone. Please trust in that. Truthfully, God cares about you, has plans for you, and wants to bless you. If you trust in that, and trust in Him to guide you, you will experience it.
I don’t know what marketable skills I have that would help but you know you can count on me for anything. I’ll pass the offering plate, run the soundboard, sweep the parking lot, what ever it takes.
